About the Artist

I am Lakshmishree A J S — a fine artist, architect, and Wikipedia-featured creative from Bengaluru, India. My paintings speak about the world I care deeply about — global environmental issues, social awareness, Indian culture, festivals, and the human face in all its beauty and complexity.

What makes my journey unusual is not just what I paint — but when it began.

The Beginning — A Child Who Painted the World

I started painting at the age of two, aesthetically inclined from my earliest days, able to decipher shapes, mix colours, and handle the brush with an instinct that surprised everyone around me. At home, I would sit and paint for three hours at a stretch — not because anyone asked me to, but because I couldn't stop.

At age five, approximately 100 of my paintings were displayed at the 2001 Bangalore Festival of Art. That exhibition changed everything. A child, barely old enough for school, had filled a gallery.

Trained and encouraged by parents Jayaprakash .A.G.K. & Suma Prakash, what followed was a decade of painting, competing, winning, and representing India on global stages — all before I turned eighteen.

What I Believe

I have always wished to do something good for the people of our world and the planet we live in.  That belief runs through every painting I make — whether it's a portrait of a stranger, a landscape of a disappearing forest, or a celebration of a festival. Art, for me, has never been decoration. It has always been a message.

Today I bring that same belief into my workshops — teaching people not just to paint, but to see. To slow down. To express what they feel but cannot say.
